COVID-19: What are the new rules and deadlines to confirm my trip?

The following information applies to those participants who have been awarded under the 4th round of DiscoverEU, and who have been informed by the DiscoverEU travel team by email. I did not yet submit my booking form 

If you did not yet submit your booking form, and did not miss a previous deadline, you have received a reminder email with your booking form link. Look for an email from hello@start-discover.eu with the email subject 'Continue planning your #DiscoverEU trip!'. 

  • Travel period: The earliest departure date is 30 days after the day you complete your booking form. The latest departure date is 1 August 2021 (for a return on 31 August 2021). 
  • Booking form: You have until 30 September 2020 to submit your booking form. During the process, you will be requested to confirm your departure date and delivery address. You will be able to change your departure information until 31 March 2021. 
  • Reservation confirmation: We know it is difficult to plan a trip due to the Covid-19 situation. That is why you will be able to still change your departure date and your delivery address details later. For FIX travel, you will also be able to change your itinerary.
    You will have until 31 March 2021 to change your departure information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. In October, you will receive access to a link where you will be able to change your information. We'll also send you reminders a few weeks before your departure date. 
  • Important to remember: You will have until next year to decide on your departure details, but you will need to let us know you plan to travel with DiscoverEU before the deadline of 30 September 2020. If we do not receive your booking form submission before the deadline, your DiscoverEU ticket will go to someone on the reserve list. 

I received a travel ticket, and did not cancel yet

If you received a travel ticket, prior to May 2020, the following rules apply: 

  • If you plan to depart on your trip as planned: Enjoy your DiscoverEU trip! Make sure to consult the re-open Europe website for the latest information on travel information, restrictions and advice. Stay safe while travelling and follow the guidelines of governments and travel staff. 
  • If you want to travel later, and your start date is 3 days from when you read this: You are still able to request a travel ticket exchange, follow the instructions that were sent to you via email. Look for an email from hello@start-discover.eu with the email subject: 📢 #DiscoverEU Pass Exchange Alert. Make sure to complete the cancellation of your current travel ticket in time. After that is completed, you will receive a link to an 'exchange form'. You will have until 31 March 2021 to complete this form with your departure information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will be able to travel until 31 August 2021. 
  • If you missed your deadline, or lost your travel ticket:
    For FLEX passes, the travel team will not be able to provide you with a travel pass exchange.
    For FIX travels, reach out to the travel team. 

I received a travel ticket, and completed the request for an exchange 

If you received a travel ticket, prior to May 2020, the following rules apply: 

  • For everyone: You will have until 31 March 2021 to complete your exchange form with your departure information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will be able to travel until 31 August 2021. 
  • If you have received your exchange form: If you had an original departure date in April, May or June the exchange form was sent to you. If you did not receive the link, reach out to hello@start-discover.eu. 
  • You want to travel before 31 October 2020, and have not received your exchange form: Reach out to hello@start-discover.eu with the request to receive your exchange form link as you want to travel on [add departure date]. You will have until 31 March 2021 to complete this form with your departure information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will be able to travel until 31 August 2021. 
  • You want to travel after 31 October 2020, and have not received your exchange form: Be patient while we send you the exchange form. You will have until 31 March 2021 to complete this form with your departure information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will be able to travel until 31 August 2021. 

I completed the booking form, but did not receive my travel ticket

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we do not yet issue travel tickets with a departure dates that are more than one month from now. By doing so, we are able to still change your departure date should you wish to change your travel plans. 

  • Until 31 October 2020: You have received an email from hello@start-discover.eu in order to reconfirm your departure. If you still want to depart, and did not receive this email, reach out to us. 
  • As of 1 November 2020: You will receive a link to a form where you will be able to confirm your travel ticket reservation. You will be able to still change your departure date and your delivery address details later. For FIX travel, you will also be able to change your itinerary. You will have until 31 March 2021 to revise your information, but you will need to confirm them at least 30 days prior to your departure. You will receive reminders from the travel team about this.
